William Elliott Obituary

William "Bill" Elliott

August 8, 1952 - October 2, 2025

William "Bill" Elliott, 73, of Waterloo, died Thursday, October 2, 2025, at the Cedar Valley Hospice Home. He was born August 8, 1952, in Waterloo, to Oscar and Rita (Edwardson) Elliott. He attended East High School before enlisting in the United States Marine Corps in 1969. He did two tours of duty in Vietnam and was a tunnel rat as well as a proud Marine.

Bill married Linda Steiner in June of 1973 in Moline, Ill. He was proud to be a tool and die machinist, mechanic, and storyteller. He worked for Ingersol Rand in Ponca City, and Roskamp Champion in Waterloo. Bill had many close friends and could always make them laugh with good stories. He was the kind of person who would help anyone he could. He enjoyed spending time fishing and camping.

He is survived by his wife, Linda; his son, Joe (Crystal Wagner) Elliott of Independence; daughter, Rita (Mike) Papesh of Waterloo; grandchildren, Asia, Samantha, and Selena; great-grandchildren, Logan and Olivia; and sisters, Rosie, Les, Tina and Shirley Jo. He was preceded in death by his parents and siblings, Patty, Orville, Raymond, Eugene, and Steven.

Funeral service will be held Monday, October 6, 2025, at 11a.m. at Locke at Tower Park, 4140 Kimball Ave, with visitation from 9 to 11 a.m. Condolences may be left at www.LockeFuneralServices.com.
