William Weisbrodt Obituary

William "Bill" Leroy Weisbrodt

July 12, 1933 - October 7, 2025

William "Bill" Leroy Weisbrodt, 92, of rural Waverly, died Tuesday, October 7, 2025, at UnityPoint Allen Memorial Hospital in Waterloo.

William was born July 12, 1933, to William Henry and Luella (Pries) Weisbrodt, in Denver, Iowa. He was baptized July 30, 1933, in Denver and was confirmed March 23, 1947, at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Waverly. William attended country school through 6th grade in Lafayette Township, Bremer County, and 7th and 8th grades at St. Paul's Lutheran School. He graduated from Waverly High School in May of 1951. He was employed at Marshall Canning Company in Waverly until he enlisted in the U.S. Navy on September 19, 1952, serving until September 12, 1956, four years that he was always proud of having served. He was then employed at John Deere Implement Co. in Waverly for one year and in construction for one year, until 1959 when he rented a farm six miles north of Waverly and began his farming career.

On September 13, 1959, William was united in marriage to Genevieve Renken at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Waverly. In 1960 their son Michael was born. In 1965 he purchased a farm two miles north of Waverly where he continued to live until April of this year.

Bill loved crop farming, especially harvesting crops and doing custom combining for many land owners. When he became semi-retired from the farming business he enjoyed a part-time job working for Coonradt Ford in Waverly. His passion was riding his motorcycle; he owned nearly 40 during his lifetime. He and Gen traveled extensively all over the country on their motorcycle. Bill was an active member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church, frequently serving as an usher.

Bill is survived by his son, Michael, of rural Waverly; one sister, Ellen Thies of Sumner; two sisters-in-laws, Maxine Gram of O'Fallon, Illinois, and Diane (William) Harken of Grundy Center; one brother-in-law, Roger (Doralene) Renken of Aplington. He was preceded in death by his parents; sister-in-law, Lillian Jensen and sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Ivadean and Richard Frey and two brothers-in-law, Burton Thies and Robert Gram.

Funeral Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, October 11, 2025, at St. Paul's Lutheran Church and School in Waverly. Visitation will be held from 4-7 p.m. on Friday, October 10, at the Kaiser-Corson Funeral Home in Waverly and for an hour prior to the service Saturday at the church. Military Rites will be performed at Harlington Cemetery in Waverly by the Waverly Veterans Honor Guard. Memorial contributions may be directed to UnityPoint-Allen Memorial Hospital and online condolences may be left at kaisercorson.com.
