Donald Groose Obituary

Concord, WI - Donald (Donnie) H. Groose, 95, of Concord, passed away on Friday, December 6, 2024.

A funeral service will be held on Saturday, December 21, 2024 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Oconomowoc with Pastor David Shockman officiating. Relatives and friends may gather at the church from 9:00 a.m. until the time of the service. Immediately following the service will be a luncheon at the church. Burial will be at the Concord Methodist Cemetery at 2:00 p.m. Memorials, if desired, would be appreciated to the church or to the charity of one's choice. Hafemeister Funeral Home and Cremation Service of Watertown is serving the family. Online condolences may be left at www.HafemeisterFH.com.

Donald Harry Groose was born on August 31,1929 to Harry and Adela (Latzke) Groose at the family home in Concord. He attended Willow Glen Grade School and later graduated from Oconomowoc High School. On October 28, 1956 he married Harriet Christian at St. Stephen's Lutheran Church in Concord. Don grew up working on the family farm, and in 1947 after graduating from high school he started working part-time in the mail room at Carnation. In 1956, he began full-time employment with Carnation until his retirement in 1993.

During the late 1960's and early 1970's he was Concord Town Supervisor. In the 1970's as his family grew, he became heavily involved with 4-H. He was President of the 4-H Leaders Association and went on to represent Jefferson County during a trip to Washington D.C. After his children were grown, he returned to local town leadership as the Concord Town Chairman, as well as, President of the Ixonia Lions Club and was a lifetime member of the Angus Association. He was very dedicated to his church. He served on various committees and attended regularly.

For many years Don enjoyed fishing, hunting, bowling, snowmobiling, traveling, and playing cards. More recently, he would keep himself busy cutting wood, gardening, putzing in the yard, baking cookies, playing sheepshead with the Christian family and attending snowmobile club and other community activities.

He is survived by children: Jeff (Collyn) Groose of Spring Hill, TN, Mark (Lisa) Groose of Concord, Karla (Brian) Ransom of Genesee Depot; grandchildren: Jessica (Matt) Anderson, Christa Hughes, Matthew (Molly) Groose, Caitlyn Groose, Kiley Groose, Lucas (Harley Jo) Groose; great-grandchildren, Elliott, Carleigh, Clayton, Cooper, Maleena, Clara, Arthur, Henry, Blu, Ren, Bentley and Lacey; as well as other relatives and friends.

Don was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Harriet on February 6, 2019; great-grandchild, River; sister, Carol (Frank) Huebner.
