Jerelyn Hawn Obituary
Jerelyn Sue Scott was born to parents Thurman and Bessie (Browder) Scott on March 31, 1936, in Cleburne, Texas. Jere graduated from Amarillo High School and later attended Wayland Baptist College where she attained her "Mrs." degree. She was united in marriage to Everett Joe Hawn on March 6, 1957, in Amarillo, Texas.
Jere worked alongside her husband to minister within the deaf communities in Texas and New Mexico for many years as beloved members of those communities. Additionally, she was passionate about crafting. She loved to crochet and quilt. She also enjoyed catering and making wedding cakes. Above all, she loved spending time with her family and being involved in the lives of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Jere is survived by her loving husband, Everett "Papa Joe" Hawn; their children: Terri (Thomas) Ryan of Albuquerque, NM; Barbara (Richard) Bergum of La Farge, WI; and David (Patty) Hawn of Vancouver, WA; their grandchildren: Jennifer Hawn, Kimberley Hawn, Misti Hawn, Candyce (Thomas) Ovadal, Nicolas (Sheri) Bergum, Michael (Holly) Bergum, Brittany (Cason) Bergum-Minor, Matthew (Vanessa) Bergum, Jacob Bergum, Samantha (Jake) Bergum-Lewis, Stephen (Laura) Bergum, Nathan (Jennifer) Bergum, Joshua Bergum, Caleb Bergum, Jonathan Hawn, and Eric Hawn; 50 great-grandchildren; her brother: Don (Agnes) Scott of La Grande, OR; as well as other nieces, relatives, and friends.
Jere was preceded in death by her parents, Thurman and Bessie Scott.
The funeral service will be held at Fellowship Baptist Church in Watertown, WI on Thursday, December 5, 2024, at 11:00 a.m. with Pastor Chad Prigge officiating. Visitation at the church will begin at 9:30. A short graveside service will be held for the family at Oak Hill Cemetery. Friends and family are invited to a light luncheon in the church fellowship hall immediately following the service. Hafemeister Funeral Home and Cremation Service is serving the family.
