1939 - 2025

Watertown, WI - Norbert J. Saxby, 85, of Watertown, passed away on Thursday, June 19, 2025, at his home.

A memorial service will be held on Monday, June 30, 2025, at 6:00 p.m. at Hafemeister Funeral Home in Watertown with Rev. Anthony Schultz of St. Luke's Lutheran Church in Watertown officiating. Relatives and friends may gather at the funeral home from 4:00 p.m. until the time of the service.

Norbert James Saxby was born on December 27, 1939, to James R. and Florence M. (Klokow) Saxby in Watertown. Norbert was baptised on January 28, 1940, and confirmed on Palm Sunday when he was 13 years old. He exchanged vows with Carol Meyer on September 2, 1961, at St. Luke's Lutheran Church, beginning a lifelong partnership. In 1964, he and Carol completely remodeled the farmhouse where they raised their family.

Norbert was a very busy handyman and had numerous talents. He hauled sod, trimmed trees, was a carpenter, and mechanic, but most of all spent his time farming his land. Norbert loved playing cards, fishing, camping, fixing things that were broken, and spending time with his family.

Norbert is survived by his son, Dennis Saxby; daughter, Tina (Jim) Wolf; grandchildren: Joseph (Lindsey) Wolf and Amanda (Joel) Grosnick; great-grandchild, Madison Wolf; brother, Marvin (Mary) Saxby; sister, Faye Pergande; brother-in-law and sister-in-law Ed and Jeanette Meyer, Mike and Cindy Miller as well as nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Karen Kirk, and his wife, Carol Saxby, on January 16, 2025.

Many thanks to his caregivers at home, Sandy and granddaughter Hazel, Cindy, Darlene, Lindsey and Amanda, Commonheart Hospice Aide Jennifer, and nurses Barb and Heather. There were so many others, and we are so thankful for making him comfortable in his home.
