Edith LeBlanc Obituary

Edith Renate LeBlanc passed away at her home in Houston, Texas, on Saturday, March 26, 2011. Edith was born on May 14, 1939 to Otto and Anna Schmalenberger (who preceded her in death) in Berlin, Germany. In May 1958, she married Melvin Joseph LeBlanc, in Landstuhl, Germany, where Melvin was serving in the United States Air Force. They settled in Melvin's hometown of Gonzales, where they lived until Melvin's death in 1987. Edith devoted many years serving and helping people in need through her work at the Fellowship Center in Gonzales. Those who knew Edith well knew her best for her compassion and her ability to see the good in people of all walks of life. In 2004, Edith moved to Houston, where she lived with her youngest son, Patrick and his wife Belinda. Edith is survived by her brother, Hans Jurgen Schmalenberger, her sons, Michael, Thomas and Patrick, her daughters-in-law, Jan, Mary Ann and Belinda, and her eight cherished grandchildren. The family will receive visitors on Monday, April 4, 2011, from 3 p.m. to 8 p.m., at Ascension Funeral Home, 426 W. New River Street, Gonzales.
