Fern Dorothy Elizabeth (Zemke) Cranwell
August 15, 1923 - March 21, 2024
Wenatchee, WA
Fern was born August 15, 1923, at her parents', William and Tina Zemke, homestead near Winthrop, WA. After 100 years of living a full and blessed life, Fern went to be with the Lord on March 21, 2024.
On September 8, 1942, Fern married Carroll Cranwell with whom she shared 72 years together until he passed away in 2014. They had three children: Sue (John) Koch, Frankie (Bob) Fitzjarrald, and Gary (Terrie) Cranwell. Fern's family grew to include eight grandchildren, twelve great-grandchildren, and two great-great-grandchildren, along with an extended family who loved her dearly.
Family was Fern's life. Her career consisted of jobs where she could be with her children or worked during their school hours. She cooked for the State Highway crew on Steven's Pass where she could have her daughters by her side. When the family moved back to Winthrop, Fern cooked for the school lunch program. After being transferred by the DOT to Moses Lake, WA, Fern worked as a school librarian assistant so she could have more time with her son. Summers were filled with visits from nieces and nephews who loved their Auntie Fern. She made many memories for her family and was loved by all! Fern will be missed by everyone who knew her.
There will be a special Graveside Service on October 17, 2024, 11:00 a.m., at the Sullivan Cemetery in Winthrop, WA.
Our family would like to give a big shout-out of gratitude and appreciation to the staff at Regency Wenatchee.
"We are forever grateful for you, Mom, and can't wait to see you again in Eternity!"
