Jerry Martin

1941 - 2025

Jerry (Susie Shannon) Martin passed away July 9, 2025 in Spokane, Washington after a brief battle with cancer. She was 83. Born Dec 12,1941, the 10th of 12 children to Arvil and Versa Shannon in Mountain View, AR. The family moved to Entiat, WA in the late 40's where they owned and operated an apple orchard and Susie graduated from Entiat high school in 1959. Susie participated in many activities including band, choir, Girls Club, FHA, club & class officer, drama, newspaper staff, and Student Council. She remained close friends with her classmates throughout her life and loved the opportunities she had to gather with them as adults at the annual reunions. After high school, Susie attended Kinman Business School in Spokane where she met her first husband and the father of her five children, Marvin Martin. Susie married her second husband, Cecil Martin in Feb. 1977. Together they had a blended family of 9 children. Jerry was known to be feisty, a quiet daredevil and a risk taker. She believed in family and togetherness and was happiest when traveling or spending time with her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. Although she was afflicted with Rheumatoid Arthritis in her early 60's, she never let the pain stop her from living her best life. She was preceded in death by her parents (Arvil & Versa Shannon), seven siblings (Roy, Guy, Grace, Junior, Curt, Betty and Glenna), beloved daughters Teresa and Shelley, former husband Marvin and husband Cecil. She is survived by her three children, Jeffrey (Meg), Steven (Robin) and Penny, eight grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren and her remaining four siblings (Fred, Alvin, Gladys & Joye). All loved her deeply and will forever carry her in their hearts. She and Cecil will be laid to rest on Oct. 18, 2025 at 11:00 a.m. at Red Doors Cemetery in Mountain View, AR.
