Leland Marboe Obituary

Leland Scott Marboe
February 9, 1959 - April 1, 2025
Leland Scott Marboe, beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend, passed away on April 1, 2025, following a courageous year-long battle with cancer. He was 66 years old.
Known to many simply as "Scott," he was a larger-than-life personality whose warmth, humor, and generosity left an impression on everyone he met. A devoted family person, Scott had a remarkable gift for bringing joy and fun to every moment, whether at home, work, or out in nature.
Scott dedicated 35 years of his life to the apple industry, working with both Oneonta Trading Co. and CMI. His leadership and innovation earned him respect across the field, and he proudly served on multiple national boards including the United Fresh Fruit Marketing Board, the Produce Marketing Association, and the USA Pear Bureau. His work took him around the world, he often joked that the only place he had not been was the Arctic. In recognition of his impact, The Produce News recently honored him as a leader in the industry.
Beyond his professional achievements, Scott had a deep love for the rivers of the West. Whether white-water rafting or fly fishing, he found a sense of peace and spirituality outdoors, especially at the family cabin in Idaho, a place he held close to his heart.
After his semi-retirement in 2021, Scott and his wife, Maribeth, moved to Phoenix, Arizona. There, he discovered a new passion (and occasional frustration) in golf and formed treasured friendships that brought great happiness in his final years.
Scott's love for the University of Idaho was unwavering. A proud alum, he cherished his memories of playing football and the lifelong friendships he made there. In 2016, he was honored as "Vandal Booster of the Year," and later served on the Vandal Scholarship Board and on the committee to hire a new football coach in 2021. He especially loved cheering on the Vandals, never more than when his oldest son took the field. His love for the University of Idaho was so strong that the University created two scholarships in his name. In honor of his legacy and in lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to the following causes close to Scott's heart:
Scott Marboe Vandal Athletic Scholarship Endowment.

Scott is survived by his wife, Maribeth; his children, Michael Marboe, Mitchell Marboe, and Ali Marboe; his daughters in law Rylee Marboe, Bailey Marboe and future son in law Jared Denniston; and one of the brightest lights in his lifehis granddaughter, Lennon.
A celebration of Scott's life will be held on May 10, 2025, from 2:30 to 5:30 p.m. at the Wenatchee Golf and Country Club. The family kindly requests a dress code of bright colors to remember Scotts brighter than life personality.
Scott's legacy lives on in the laughter of his family, the friendships he nurtured, the rivers he loved, and the countless lives he touched.
