Mildred Cordell Obituary

Mildred ("Millie") Alice Cordell
September 24, 1941 - November 26, 2025
Mildred ("Millie") Alice Cordell, aged 84, passed away peacefully on November 26, 2025, at her home in East Wenatchee.
She was a beloved mother, sister, grandmother, great-grandmother, friend, and community leader who will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
Millie was born on September 24, 1941, in Warm Beach/Stanwood, WA, the youngest of five children to her parents, George Frederick and Mildred Loretta Larreau.
While Millie was young, the Larreau family moved to Moses Lake in 1947, where Millie attended Moses Lake High School, graduating in 1959. It was there she met the love of her life, Alfred "Al" Cordell. They married in September 1959, right after he graduated from college and she from high school. They had three sons in Moses Lake, Jeffrey Waco in 1961, Scott Alan in 1963, and Daniel Dean in 1964.
In 1968, Millie and Al moved to East Wenatchee when Al transferred to the Wenatchee office of the CPA firm where he worked. Millie worked in the office for many years, and the CPA firm continues on today as Cordell, Neher & Company.
The highlight and focus of Millie's life was her family: her three sons and her seven grandchildren, and her three great-grandchildren. While family was always first for Millie, she also kept a full calendar, with time for work, volunteering at various organizations in the valley, and her many friendships and activities.
Millie was a proud Applarian for decades and served as the royalty court Chaperone in 1986 and in 1987. She loved being an Applarian, and she and Al traveled to many parades throughout the Northwest and Hawaii to represent the Apple Blossom festival, with one of their favorite stops being the Kona Coffee Festival.
Millie was very involved at the local hospital, helping to manage the gift shop for many years. In 2008, Millie and Al were awarded the Confluence Health Foundation's "Spirit of A.Z. Wells Award" for their leadership and support of the Hospital Foundation.
Millie's favorite place was her cabin at Lake Chelan, where she enjoyed boating, swimming, and hosting family and friends for decades. She loved hosting large family reunions at the lake, and Millie was quite the water skier in her time, gracefully skiing on one ski up and down the lake. She was also an accomplished snow skier, and loved to travel with friends and family to many resorts around the Pacific Northwest. Millie and Al also enjoyed traveling with friends, with some of their favorite places being Kona and Maui in Hawaii, the Oregon Coast, and Palm Springs in the winter.
Millie was preceded in death by her husband, Alfred "Al" Cordell in May 2024; and her three brothers, Vernon, George and Cecil. Millie is survived by her three sons, Jeff (Jill) of The Villages, FL, Scott (Cari) of Issaquah and Dan of East Wenatchee; as well as her sister, Delores "Dee" of Tacoma. Millie also has seven beloved grandchildren: Nick (Emily), Kirsten, Lauren (Eduardo) Estrada, Maxwell (Tricia), Bailey, Carsen (Travis) Diede and Megan, as well as three great-grandchildren: Dylan, Parker and Eva. She adored her grandchildren and great-grandchildren and loved visiting with them and keeping up with their many adventures.
A Celebration of Millie's life will be held in April in East Wenatchee, with details to follow in a subsequent posting.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that any donations be made to her favorite organization, the Confluence Health Foundation.
