RC (Jay or Jr) passed away suddenly on February 15, 2025. While his death was surprising, it was quick and painless. For this, we are grateful.
He was born to RC and Mary Harris in Wenatchee, WA. He lived his whole life in the valley except while attending WSU earning a Batchelor's degree.
He worked in the orchards through his youth, on construction of Highway 20, as a schoolteacher after college, at Pybus steel yard, Merchant Police security, OXARC and Perly's Welding. Welding was his talent.
In 1991, he started RC Welding Services & Ornamental. He operated the business full time until 2021 but was still helping folks in semi-retirement up until two days before his death. Anything RC built, was over built! That's what he was known for in the valley. He took great pride in his heavy-duty craftsmanship.
He was a bit of a "collector" and was always on the lookout for something he needed. He always had a project to get around to doing.
RC always looked forward to October and hunting season. That was his annual vacation. Deer and elk hunting with his family, motivated him through the tough days in the shop.
He is survived by his mother, Mary. Son, Keith and Amber. Son, Brent and Kerri.
Grandson, Richard Clayton and Macy. Great granddaughter, Blair. Grandson, Cody and Tia. Brother, Ed and Marnie. Sister, Mary Joan and Chuck Avey. Sister, Debra Harris Cervelle. Brother, Rick. Several nephews and nieces. Girlfriend, Karen Thompson.
He was preceded in death by his dad, RC Harris and nephew, Jeff Avey.
A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
