Sammie Strozyk Obituary

Sammie Strozyk
October 14, 1943 - August 18, 2024
Sammie Beatrice Strozyk (Galloway), 80, passed away peacefully on August 18, 2024, in Wenatchee, WA surrounded by family. Born in Burdine, KY, she lived a vibrant and nurturing life, filled with love, laughter, and dedication to her family.
A graduate of Willapa Valley High School, Sammie was the epitome of a devoted Navy wife during her husband Lawrence H. Strozyk's 20-plus years of service. She successfully managed the home front during his deployments, coordinated cross-country moves, and was the steadfast anchor of her family.
Sammie's life was characterized by her unwavering support and enthusiasm for her family's endeavors. Known for her spirited presence at ballfields, she could be found working in the concession stand or heard cheering with her red horn, encouraging everyone with chants like "Do it for your mama!" which later evolved to "Do it for your Grandma!" and "Do it for Gigi!" Sammie could always be counted on to be the taxi mom, driving kids to practices, hangouts, and anywhere they needed to go. She was even known to participate in a few TP wars in years gone by. Family trips to the Oregon Coast for family reunions and Hawaii with her grandchildren were among her cherished moments. Her home was always open, with a kitchen full of snacks ready for any friends her children brought over. Her love for her grandchildren and great-grandchildren knew no bounds; they were truly the light of her life.
Sammie's perfect day would have been at a beach surrounded by family and friends, Elvis playing in the background and a table full of king crab in front of her.
She is survived by her daughter, Peggy Strozyk; son and daughter-in-law, Larry Strozyk, Jr. (Ginga); grandchildren, Devyn Goldy (Brandon) and Kendall Bull; great-grandsons, Hudson Morley, Ryker Goldy, and Kolsen Goldy; and sister, Linda Galloway. Sammie was preceded in death by her husband, Lawrence H. Strozyk; parents, Sam and Lessie Galloway; and siblings, Carol Strozyk, O'Neal Roundtree, and Gary Galloway.
A private service will be held at the Tahoma National Cemetery, where family and friends will gather to reunite her with Larry, the love of her life, honor her memory and celebrate a life beautifully lived. Sammie's legacy of love, support, and family devotion will forever resonate with those who knew her.

Sammie will always hold a special place in my heart. Taking care of her in her final days was truly an honor. I recently became a new mom and i´ll never forget her telling me " everyone´s gonna tell you how to do it, but you´ll know. just trust yourself." or how she insisted i named my baby sammie up until the day he was born haha. Or how she had to put lip gloss on every time she went out for a cigarette. Her love for life, others and Larry was truly an inspiration. I´ll never forget her or her laugh. She was like the grandma i never had and i´ll miss her and think of her often. Rest in peace sweet lady.
