Shannon McManus Obituary

Shannon Marie (Templin) McManus
March 23, 1959 - July 4, 2025
Shannon was born in Chelan, WA to Monte and Hester Templin. She was raised with her younger sister Leigh on an apple orchard in Manson. Their family enjoyed boating and camping on Lake Chelan and skiing at Echo Valley. She was a Manson Apple Blossom Princess. Following high school, Shannon obtained her Batchelor of Science from the University of Washington. Shannon spent her adult life in the Greater Seattle Area. Her last two years she lived in Durham, NC, moving to be close to her granddaughters. The last six months of life she moved to Wenatchee, living with family while battling Stage IV lung cancer.
Shannon worked as an Executive Assistant for departments at the University of Washington and Duke University. She served as Office Manager for the USO at SeaTac instilling at deep appreciation for our service men and women. Her favorite role was being "Mom" to her children and "Oma" to her grandchildren.
Shannon had a love for history, books and travel. She was creative, independent and loved her family deeply. She leaves behind daughter Nicole (Josh Turner), granddaughters Sofia and Nora, son Scott (Jenna Hayden), sister Jessica Leigh (husband Steve Smith) and nephews Kelly (and Sierra) and Zach Smith. A celebration of life will be held at a later date. The family wishes to extend their most heartfelt appreciation to Confluence Health Hospice Services.

Dear sweet friend, Shannon. Her death serves as a reminder that we never know how much time remains in our hourglass. She leaves behind a bevy of friends, admirers, and great books. As a pebble in the sands of time, her life was genuine, pure, honest and filled with fun. I'll always admire her tenacity and quest/thirst for knowledge and a memory like a steel trap. She was one of our founding mothers in the Bookies book club and we miss her so much. Our condolences to her beautiful family. Soar high, my friend. Love always, Marilyn Pulk
