Teddy Montgomery Obituary
Teddy Montgomery
October 5, 1941 - June 21, 2025
Teddy Robert Montgomery, born October 5, 1942, in McAlester, OK, with a twinkle in his eye, left this life behind on June 21, 2025. He made the most of the time that he had, greeting anyone in his path and building an extended family of open-hearted humans, countless dogs, and fellow powder heads.
Ted served as an electrician in the US Navy from 1962-66 aboard the USS Midway, USS Coral Sea, and the USS Hancock. He employed the skills and structure learned in the military throughout his life and in his work.
Whether selling cordage and gourmet foods, designing equipment for physical therapy and golf courses, or fixing up his house, Ted was incredibly inventive and resourceful. He spent the late 60s and early 70s
in San Francisco, and loved to share crazy stories of this time. He also lived in Arkansas, Nevada, California, and, after learning to ski at Squaw Valley on New Year's Day 1986, called Lake Tahoe home for over 30 years.
He made so many friends with whom he loved spending time while duck hunting, skiing, hiking, biking, and sharing a drink.
In 2015, Ted moved to Wenatchee, WA, to be closer to family. Ted made friends of his neighbors and looked after everyone, especially his niece and her family, who lived next door. He hiked the trails around Wenatchee daily and knew so many of the regulars and especially their dogs!
After being diagnosed with an aggressive form of cancer in 2024, Ted continued to hike, bike, and walk daily. He was such an inspiration of strength and perseverance to us all! The community of people who knew Ted became so important during his time of physical decline and showed their love and concern in many ways. Ted's family will be forever grateful to you all (you know who you are) for returning the favor of concern when he needed it most.
Our uncle Ted, aka 'Unc', aka COOT (crazy old uncle Ted), leaves behind a large and loving family: His sister, Jan Herman (Milt), brother Brooks Montgomery(Tami), nieces Peggy (Herman), Ike, and Lindsay (Herman) Breidenthal, Annie Montgomery, and Olivia Ike, nephews Brooks M.Jr., Tyler M., Mark M., Isaac M., Jacob Ike, Joseph Ike, and Finley Breidenthal.
A Celebration of Life will be held on September 7, 2025, from 3:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Shelter #2 at Walla Walla Point Park in Wenatchee, WA.
All who loved Ted are welcome.
