Toni Stubbe Obituary

Toni Lynn Stubbe
March 27, 1949 - November 3, 2024
Toni Lynn Stubbe passed away November 3, 2024 at the age of 75. Toni was born on March 27, 1949, in Vancouver, WA and grew up in Camas, WA, the eldest daughter of Faye and O.V. "Jake" Jacobsen. She graduated from Camas High School in 1967, and the University of Washington in 1971 as a member of Alpha Chi Omega sorority. It was the beginning of her passionate love of all things Husky football.
After college, Toni moved to Wenatchee, WA and began a more than 30-year career at The Wenatchee World newspaper. After retiring, she moved to Vancouver to be closer to family. In retirement, she enjoyed volunteering for various local charitable causes and working in her garden.
No matter where she lived, she was drawn to water: swimming in Lacamas Lake, family days on the Columbia River, summers 'puttering' around Lake Chelan, family reunions at the beach, and lazily floating in the Washougal River. If there was water nearby, Toni's toes would be in it.
Toni is survived by her daughter, Morgan Stubbe of Vancouver, her sister, Kimberly Sherertz of Battle Ground, and her brother, Scott Jacobsen of Portland as well as her aunt, Florene Grigsby, niece, Elizabeth, nephew, Cole, many cousins (by family and by love), and her beloved grand dogs, Deuce and Dexter.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in her honor to the Wenatchee Valley Humane Society.

Toni and I worked together at The Wenatchee World for over 32 years but it was in the last 10 years that I really got to know her and we became good friends. Her deadpan sarcasm cracked me up. One year Her mom asked me to rent a gorilla suit and find someone to wear it and surprise Toni on her birthday. Doug P. stepped in and it was hilarious. Toni and I went to a Seahawks game and getting there was eventful! Long story. Participating in Relay for Life every year could be eventful too.... one year I ran her to the ER before it started cause she had an allergic reaction to something. Later at my Dr appt, I was diagnosed with cancer. Strange day but she and I survived it. Throwing each other Bday parties and attending other parties together. So many memories to cherish. Love you Toni

Toni was my Wenatchee World Rep for many years and she became a good friend. She was fun and smart and interesting and I enjoyed her company. After she retired and moved to Vancouver I tried to visit her whenever I was in the neighborhood and we got together when she visitied Wenatchee. I was so sad to read of her passing. I will remember her always.
