A Celebration of the life of Araminta Faniel
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Araminta (Robinson) Faniel 90 of Springfield MA. She passed away peacefully while asleep on March 9, 2025. Born on Nov. 11, 1934, in Orange VA. to John Robinson Sr. (d) and Cora (Snead) Robinson,(d), Araminta lived a life full of kindness, love, and dedication to those around her. She graduated from High School where she was a good student and basketball player and after graduation, she married the love of her life, Leonard Faniel, and moved to Springfield MA where she resided until her passing. She was pre-deceased by her husband of 28 years, Leonard Sr. in 1983, and her oldest son Leonard Jr. in 2013. Araminta worked at Digital Equipment Corporation until its closing, and then she worked for Early Childhood of Springfield retiring in 2013. She loved children and took on duties as a foster mother through Big Brother Big sisters. Beyond her professional life, she was a devoted mother, wife, sister, sister-in-law, friend, and community member. Araminta was passionate about all that she did. She loved everyone and would feed everyone who came into her home and she had a passion for cooking. She would make sure when you left her home you were well-fed. She loved to travel and especially loved cruises. She also had an incredible singing voice and loved music. Araminta had an incredible ability to make everyone feel special that came to her home. She loved to entertain her family and friends every Sunday as she was a true "Southern girl". She found Peace through serving Jehovah and was a faithful member of her congregation at the Kingdom Hall. Her laughter was contagious, her wisdom unmatched, and her generosity knew no bounds.
She is survived by her sons Stephen(Luz), and Timothy (Yolanda) and her grandchildren; Stephen Jr., Kyle, Dominique, Jesse, JoMary, Glen, and great-grandson Michael. Cameron, Corey, Siri, and a Sister in Love Beverly Robinson. She also leaves her brothers Charles Robinson, of Washington D.C, Clarence Robinson, of Orange VA, and Ronnie Robinson, of Upper Marlboro MD. sister in laws, Gladys Faniel (Raymond), Eunice Robinson (Bobby), Nancy Robinson (Charles), Earline Robinson(Clarence, Gloratine Robinson(Ronnie) and Lula-Belle Robinson(John Jr.) Araminta had 11 siblings. She was preceded in death by 8 of her 11 siblings, John Robinson Jr., Corine and Allen Bowler, Mary and Elvis Porter, Louis D. and Myra Robinson, Bobby Robinson, Gilbert Robinson, Alice Brown(Reginald), and Sharon Robinson. She was also preceded in death by her brother in Law Raymond L. Faniel (Gladys) brother in law Leon Faniel (Inez), father in law Louis Faniel Jr. and Mother in law WillieMae, (Louis Jr) sister in law Arzella, and brother-in-law (Perry Williams). Her legacy lives on through her family and the many nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews, cousins, and the countless lives she touched.
A Memorial of Araminta's life will be held on Saturday, April 5th, at 1:00 PM. at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses, 21 Sanderson St. Springfield MA.
Araminta will forever remain in our hearts as a shining example of love and grace. As we say goodbye, we hold onto the memories that remind us of the beautiful life she lived.
