Dorothy Williams Obituary

Dorothy Williams, 76, of Indian Orchard, Massachusetts, peacefully returned to the Creator on August 11, 2025, after a courageous journey with dementia and other health challenges. Surrounded by the love and prayers of her family, she departed this life free from pain and embraced eternal rest. Born on August 2, 1949, in San Diego, California, Dorothy was a devoted mother, grandmother, sister, and woman of deep faith. She dedicated her life to nurturing her family, uplifting her community, and living in service to others. Her warm spirit, quick wit, and unshakable belief in God's grace touched all who knew her. As a teenager, Dorothy rejoiced in attending school at the Jeremiah E. Burke in Boston, where she shared classrooms and hallways with the late legendary recording artist Donna Summer. She also found joy in playing the piano and had a lifelong love of dancing, bringing music and rhythm into the lives of those around her. In her later years, Dorothy was a faithful member of Shiloh Seventh Day Adventist Church, where she actively participated in worship, fellowship, and outreach. She is survived by her loving children, daughter Regina Williams, and sons Alexander Williams and Tyrone Muhammad; her two brothers, Sigmond Hines and Barney "Tony" Hines; and a host of grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends who will cherish her memory. Dorothy was preceded in death by her mother, Edith Corinne Hines; her father, Warren Hines; her husband, John May Williams; and her brother, Eddie Hines. A celebration of her life will be held on Thursday, August 21, 2025, at Shiloh Seventh Day Adventist Church, 797 State St, Springfield, MA 01109. Viewing will begin at 10:00 a.m., followed by the funeral service at 11:00 a.m. Burial will follow at Hillcrest Park Cemetery, 895 Parker St, Springfield, MA 01129. Clergy from Shiloh will officiate. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in her memory to Shiloh Seventh Day Adventist Church. The family extends deep gratitude to the compassionate hospice team at Mass General Cooley Dickinson Hospital and to the staff of Elaine Center in Hadley for their care and kindness during her final days.
