Flor Negron De Morales, AKA, Mery, of
Springfield, Massachusetts, passed away on August 29, 2025, just shy of her 90th birthday. Born on March 29, 1936 in Manatí, Puerto Rico, Flor was a beacon of vitality and compassion. Flor's life was a testament to the teachings of the Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church, where she served as a lector and a Eucharistic minister for the sick. Her faith was reflected in her daily life, and she found great fulfillment in her chosen vocation as a foster mother. "Amen, I say to you, whatever you did for one of these least brothers of mine, you did for me." (Matthew 25:40). Flor lived this verse, opening her home and heart to hundreds of children in need.
Flor's commitment to her community was unwavering. She was known for organizing community events and was an active member of the Civic Club in her native Puerto Rico. Her love for children and her community was matched only by her passion for cooking. Flor found joy in the simple act of feeding others, and her meals became a cherished part of many children's memories. Her dedication to fostering was recognized multiple times with the Best Foster Parent of the Year award, a testament to her unwavering love and tireless dedication. Flor and her late husband, Carlos Morales, established a haven of love and acceptance in their home, leading by example and demonstrating the profound impact of unconditional love.
Flor is survived by her children, Francisco Morales, Eva Morales Cortez Edmi Torres, and Raquel Serrano, her sisters, Sara Negron and Irma Negron, her brothers, Rey Negron, and Jose Negron. She leaves behind a legacy of love in her grandchildren, Natalia Serrano, Andres Serrano, Pablo Jr., Gabriel Serrano, Carlos Resto, and Miguel Resto, and her goddaughter, Marian Caraballo. She had over 15 great grandchildren Flor was preceded in death by her parents, Angel Negron and Monserrate Melendez, her husband, Carlos Morales, her daughter, Nilda Resto, and her brothers, Raul, Eddie, Luis, and Vitin Negron.
A viewing for Flor will be held at the Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church, 40 Waverly Street,
Springfield, Massachusetts, 01107, on Friday, September 5, 2025, from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM. Her interment will follow at Oak Grove Cemetery of Springfield Inc., 426 Bay Street,
Springfield, Massachusetts, 01109, at 1:30 PM.
