Nora Smith

Legacy… Elnora L. Smith (Nora), 60, departed this life on Wednesday, August 20, 2025 at home in Springfield, MA. Elnora was born in Hartford, CT to the late Walter Graham and Richie P. Sopsher. Elnora, better known as Nora, attended the High School of Commerce, graduated 1983. As a child Elnora enjoyed double Dutch, playing sports. In her early adult years, she was a teacher's aide at the Early Childhood Center in Springfield. She worked at Baystate Hospital as a Medical Biller for 37 years. In her free time she enjoyed, being beach side and sun bathing with close friends and family, you could find her table side playing tunk, let's not forget dancing, you knew when her hit came on she'd hear the tune, and there she went "let's get it" ! Elnora is predeceased by her husband, Ernest D. Smith, jr., her parents Walter Graham and Richie Sopsher, grandmother Nora DeLoach, favorite great aunt Eloise Cannon, two brothers, Edward Lumpkin and Curtis Lumpkin, two sisters, Dorothy Lumpkin and Pauline Lumpkin. Elnora leaves behind to cherish her memory, three sons Ernest D. Smith, III (Cat), Eric Xavier Smith (Alisson) and Barry Smith. Her ten grandchildren – Somers, Shakeya, Mason, Trae, Anyla, Kayden, Kameron, Salem, Adonis and Kyrie. Her Current partner Lloyd Smith. Her sisters, Jeanette Lumpkin, and Lynette (Fran) Stewart (Willie), brothers, Ronald Lumpkin (Karen) and Nehemiah Harper (Carol). Beloved sister-in-law Avanell Smith (Ainsley), her special nephew Sir Jeffory (Geo), nieces Ashley, Chaldea, Breyanna. She also leaves to cherish her memory an abundance of friends and family, extended nieces and nephews whom all had a special place in her heart.
