Robert Edwin Mayfield was born Aug. 10, 1947, to Mildred (Womack) Mayfield and Charles Mayfield in West Plains, Mo. He passed Sept. 11, 2025, at Mercy Hospital in Springfield, Mo.

He served in the United States Navy, including in the Vietnam War. He worked for the Howell County Sheriff's Office, a propane delivery company, and many years as an interstate truck driver before his well-deserved retirement. He is survived by his sons Brian Mayfield of Marshfield, Mo., and Timothy and wife Melissa Mayfield of Jonesboro, Ark. He is also survived by three grandchildren Ashlie (Mayfield) and husband William Thompson, Andrew Wood, and Theodore Mayfield, and great-grandchildren Levi and Addison Thompson; his sister Joyce Stewart; sister Reta (Mayfield) and Neil Langston; brother Lynn and Carol Mayfield; brother James "Glendel" Mayfield; and sister-in-law Ruby Mayfield. He also leaves behind his partner Cecelia "Cee Cee" Gulick, who could be seen smiling when around him.

He is preceded in death by his parents Mildred (Womack) and Charles Mayfield, brother Raymond Mayfield, brother Preston Mayfield, sister Loretta (Mayfield) Jinson and brother Jackie Mayfield.

A celebration of life was held from 3 to 6 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 4, at the Bolivar Recreation Center in Bolivar. The graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 11, 2025, at Oak Lawn Cemetery in West Plains.
