Norma Irving Wagner, wife of the late Robert James Wagner, joined him with God on Friday September 25, 2015. She was born in Norwalk, Connecticut on May 6th, 1927, daughter of the late John and Edith Irving. Norma and Bob were married in 1947 and remained together for 61 years until his death in 2008. They lived in Norwalk for the majority of their lives together and were part-time residents of Naples Florida. She graduated from Norwalk High School in 1945 and received her Associates Degree in accounting at the Norwalk Community College in 1978, graduating summa cum laude.
A lover of music, she was a soprano soloist for many years at the Grace Episcopal Church, at the East Avenue Methodist Church and the Norwalk United Methodist Church Choir where she also participated in the Bell Choir. She sang with the Norwalk Community Chorale and was a member of the Musically Speaking chorus and the Park Street singers. In addition, she was a member of the Rainbow Girls and the Order of the Eastern Star.
She volunteered in many capacities at the Norwalk Methodist Church, including the Staff Parish Committee, The Sonshine Christian Children's Center, and the Soup Kitchen. She also served on the 1945 Class Reunion Committee, and as Secretary of the Norwalk Women's Club.
She was employed at the Norwalk Board of Education, where she served as Executive Assistant to the Superintendent and as Executive Secretary on the Norwalk Board of Education until her retirement in 1989. Previous to this time, she was employed as Secretary at Tracey School under principal, Edith Vogel.
She is survived by five children: Kathleen Kruthaupt, Anne Haymon, Gail Campbell, Barbara Moscato, and Robert Wagner, as well as their spouses; Walter Kruthaupt, Tim Haymon, Tom Campbell, Philip Moscato and Zoe Wagner. She is also survived by six grandchildren, Shannon Capocci, Melanie Stachowicz, Dr. Amy Crane, Robert Andreas Wagner, and Eleni Wagner, and by three great-grandchildren; Abigail, Caitlyn May and Jack Capocci as well as many nieces and nephews. In addition she is survived by three sisters; Marjorie Brown, Ruth Tanner, and Joan Johnson and two brothers, John W. and William W. Irving. Norma will be missed by many friends, in addition to her large family.
She was a loving wife and mother, grandmother and great grandmother, and was proud of all her family. She believed that "Love of Family is the most important part of life" and she and her husband hosted many happy reunions, which held her family close through all the years.
Calling hours will be Tuesday evening 4-8pm at Hoyt-Cognetta Funeral Home, 5 East Wall Street, Norwalk, CT 06851. Funeral service will be Wednesday at Norwalk United Methodist Church 11am, 718 West Avenue, Norwalk, CT 06850. Please visit www.norwalkfh.com for more information.

Norma was a special lady - loving Mother, energetic spirit and full of life. She really enjoyed a good time and could give you a real run for your money. Her loving children have inherited many of these traits. She volunteered many hours to the church and lived an exemplary Christian life. She will be missed.
