Thomas Ikeda, 92, passed away peacefully on September 9, 2016 in Baileys Harbor, WI after a prolonged illness.
He will be dearly missed by his wife of 61 years, Akiko U. Ikeda; children, Laurence (Andrea De Coro) Ikeda, Louise (Thomas) Lester, Jennifer Ikeda (Michael) Faugust, Mary Susan Ikeda; sister, Kazumi May Takahashi; grandchildren Stephanie, Stacy and Mark Ikeda, and Steven Lester; and many friends and relatives.
Born in California and educated in Japan, Thomas returned to the United States after the war and graduated from Columbia University with a M.Sc. in Electrical Engineering. He married Akiko in December 1954, and they were active members of the church and community in Westport, CT.
Thomas retired after a 36-year career with Norden Systems, and eventually he and Akiko divided time between Westport and Sarasota.
A man of few words, Thomas conveyed his love to his family and friends through his actions and steadfastness. He was an avid bridge player, audiophile, photographer and sports fan.
A memorial service will be held on October 29th at 9:30 a.m. at the United Methodist Church of Westport and Weston, 49 Weston Road, Westport, CT. An interment service will be held on November 19th at 10:30 a.m. at the Forest Lawn Memorial Park, 4471 E. Lincoln Avenue, Cypress, CA. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in Thomas' name to the United Methodist Church of Westport and Weston.
