VALORIE KRISTENE ALVES-MARKS Valorie Kristene Alves-Marks, age 61 of Oroville passed away Thursday August 7, 2014 after a 17 month battle with Cancer. Born in Willows, CA to Basil and Mary Lou Alves, she was the eldest of 5 children, which made her into a natural leader and also helped shape her heart as a true nurturer. Valorie met her high school sweetheart Bill Marks at Willows High School; they later married on July 8, 1971. Their love story blossomed into a true partnership, fueled by unconditional love for 45 years. The love they shared was of epic proportions that only a few in this world are lucky enough to experience. Valorie was her husbands "one true thing". On September 25, 1984 Valorie gave birth to her only child, Heather, who she stated was "the greatest accomplishment of her life". They were more than mother and daughter; they were best friends and the truest of soul mates. Valorie and Heather shared the greatest gift of all, to know how it felt to love and be loved in return, really loved, loved with no boundaries; loved with their whole hearts. Valorie's family both blood and extended, were her everything, she gave her all to make their lives brighter and better. Beauty, creativity, strength, integrity, charisma, kindness, compassion, faith and her unbelievable gift of loving are just a few of her amazing qualities that drew people to her. Valorie was easy to love and that is why she was loved by both those that knew her best and those who barely knew her. Valorie was a beacon of light in the lives that she touched. Valorie was more than just the labels of daughter, sister, friend, wife and mother; she made the world a better place by simply being her warm and loving self... an ordinary life, nothing less than extraordinary.
