Carol Jeffrey Obituary

Carol D. Jeffrey, 92, of Fort Wayne, went home to be with Jesus on Wednesday, August 27, 2025. She was born on March 30, 1933, in Jasper, Indiana, an only child and daughter of Roy and Clara (Schmidt) Jeter. She attended Saint Catherin's all girls catholic school in Fort Wayne. She married Donald Jeffrey, who preceded her in death in 1982. Carol was the proud mother of six rambunctious children. From racing cars to simply living life to the fullest, she made sure her family always felt loved and cared for. How she managed it all-and kept everyone safe-is still a wonder to her children. Her greatest joy was teaching her daughter, daughters-in-law, and granddaughters how to cook, always from scratch. If you were lucky enough to enjoy one of her homemade meals, especially her chicken and noodles or her famous apple pie, you know that love was her secret ingredient. If someone was sick or celebrating, Carol made sure they had something comforting from her kitchen. Carol lived a life of service. Whether driving friends and grandchildren to appointments, grocery shopping for others, or showing up with a warm meal, she was always ready to help. If you spotted her driving her Burgundy New Yorker, you knew she was on a mission-best to step aside and let her through! To her family and community, she was "Mom" or "Grandma." She was passionate about Longaberger baskets and earned recognition as one of the company's longest-serving representatives. She also cherished her time with the Red Hat Society, traveling often, making friends wherever she went, and always planning the next adventure. Carol enjoyed simple pleasures: collecting quarters, tending to her beloved red geraniums, and sipping coffee with more creamer than coffee. Her love of red extended to her long, beautiful nails, which became her signature look. She had a way of keeping everyone connected. You never needed to check the time or weather forecast-Carol was sure to call and tell you herself. Her family fondly remembers the familiar ring of her phone calls, a daily reminder of her love. Above all, Carol embodied unconditional love. She was honest, direct, and sometimes made you put money in the "cuss jar," but you never doubted her devotion. Her family was everything to her, and she showed it in countless ways. Though she wished to make it to 100, Carol lived her 92 years with joy, laughter, and love. Heaven has gained a remarkable angel, and she leaves behind a legacy of faith, family, and devotion that will live on in those she loved. Carol is survived by her children, Don (Julie) Jeffrey, Ron (Janel) Jeffrey, John Jeffrey, Barry (Jennifer) Jeffrey, Bruce (Kim) Jeffrey and Debra (Mike) Grobaski; 15 grandchildren, Brad, David, Holly, Rachel, Ronnie, Chantelle, AJ, Kristy "Krissy", Brittany, Katie, Desiree, Valerie, Ciara, Ash and Devon and 31 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents and husband Donald. The memorial visitation will be Friday, September 5, 2025, from 12:00 pm to 2:00 pm. Inurnment will follow in Covington Memorial Gardens.
