Cathaline C. Ressler

Cathaline C. Ressler, 99, of Columbia City, Indiana passed away Thursday, June 26, 2025, at Miller's at Oak Pointe. Born October 30, 1925, in Whitley County, Indiana she was a daughter of the late William and Cherl (Smith) Adkins. She was the last surviving member of Columbia City High School graduating Class of 1943. On March 31, 1944, she married Herbert I. Ressler in San Francisco, California. Cathaline worked for Flox's Department Store, Teghtmeyer Ace Hardware, Southside Market, Columbia Woolen Mills and Blue Bell. She was a member of the American Legion Post 98 Auxiliary, Columbia City, and Post 340 Auxiliary, Pensacola, Florida for a combined 70+ years, VFW Auxiliary, and Eagles Auxiliary of Columbia City. While a member of the Columbia City American Legion Post she was also a past president. The best years of her life was living on Troy Cedar Lake, where they had a boat landing and rented row boats. Traveling was also a big part of Cathaline's life. She was able to visit Hawaii, Australia, Jamaica, Europe, and Christ Church in Auckland, New Zealand. Cathaline loved square dancing and making ham salad sandwiches for the blood mobile through the American Legion. Cathaline is survived by her children, Billie Ressler, of Columbia City, Indiana and Gary (Diane) Ressler of Pensacola, Florida; grandchildren, Renee (Mike) Stairhime, Mikel Ressler, Philip (Wendy) Ressler, John Ressler, Adam Ressler, Leah (Chris) Glace, and Jenna (Travis) Lahann; several great grandchildren; one great-great grandchild on the way; and special companion, Jim Ward. Along with her parents, Cathaline was preceded in death by her husband, Herbert Ressler; son, Tony Ressler; daughter, Cheryleen Ressler; and brothers, Walter "Jake" (Eileen) Adkins and Victor "Joe" (Marge) Adkins. Visitation will be 11:30 am to 1:30 pm with Funeral Service at 1:30 pm on Tuesday, July 1, 2025, at DeMoney-Grimes Funeral Home, 600 Countryside Drive, Columbia City.
