David Watkins Obituary

Samuel D. Watkins, 63, of rural Larwill, passed away at 1:40 p.m. Friday, May 30, 2025, at Sidney & Lois Eskenazi Hospital in Indianapolis. Born on March 7, 1962, in Hazard, Kentucky, he was a son of the late Sam and Helen (Clemons) Watkins. He graduated from Whitko High School in 1980. He became an accomplished fabricator and welder, working for several local companies before retiring at the age of 62 due to health issues. He was an avid gardener and enjoyed cooking and spending time outdoors. He liked to relax around the campfire with family and friends. He leaves behind three children; six grandchildren; sisters Barbara Baker of South Whitley and Kay (Richard) Rebman of Larwill; and brothers Kenny Pratt of South Whitley, Bennie Pratt of Austin, IN, Glen (Mary) Watkins of Washington, IN, George (Julia) Watkins of Rome City, Robert (Lisa) Watkins of South Whitley, and Gilbert Watkins of Sidney. Additionally, he was preceded in death by a sister, Josephine Brooks, and a brother, Mack Pratt. A private family graveside service will be held at the Booneville Cemetery, Larwill, where he will be laid to rest beside his parents. Arrangements are in the care of Smith & Sons Funeral Home, Columbia City.
