Doug Mann Obituary
Douglas Dee Mann (82), formerly of Washington Twp. Hartford City, IN, was born 6/20/43 in Paris, TX to parents Chester J. and Martha E. (Atkinson) Mann who preceded him in death. He died physically and as he would say, "evacuated" this life to his eternity in Heaven on 6/24/25 in Jasper, Indiana.
Preceding him in death was his son, Reece Alan Mann, and brother-in-laws, Jerry Sparks and John Clark.
He is survived by his wife, Juanita K. (Sparks), of 60 years, married on 2/14/65. Daughter-in-Law, Stacey G. Mann, of Montpelier, IN. Sister-in-Law, Joyce (Sparks/Clark) and husband Rick Collins of Lake Wales, FL. He is also survived by many cousins, as close as brothers and sisters to him, and several friends and neighbors, as close as family.
Doug graduated Fairmount High School class of 1961. Enlisted in the United States Army and served from 1961 to 1964. Worked as a lineman for Indiana and Michigan Power from 1964 to 1966. He was appointed 9/1/66 as a Trooper with the Indiana State Police assigned to the Redkey Post serving Blackford County, where he and Juanita resided until 2016. He retired as Detective Sgt. in September 1986. In 1986, he began working as a Criminal Investigator for the Indiana Department of Revenue retiring in 2003.
Doug was a member of the American Legion. He was also a member of the Masonic Lodge #600 in Montpelier, Indiana.
Doug thoroughly enjoyed making friends wherever he went. He loved to help people solve problems. Always willing to lend a hand with anything especially vehicles and home repair. He really could fix about anything and was rarely found with idle hands.
He and Jaunita have enjoyed many years spending summers on Straight Lake in Osage, Minnesota and winters on a chain of lakes in Leesburg, Florida, where they camped several years before moving to Cypress Creek Mobile Home Park. He loved fishing and playing golf with friends and neighbors. Their neighbors in Osage and Leesburg became like family, who were very important to him and who he loved very much.
We have to mention the Golden Doodle named Bella. She will certainly miss him too.
Doug loved the Lord, he deeply loved his wife of 60 years, and loved his family. He said, "If I told people who didn't know me about the life of 82 years I've lived and the family I have around me, it would seem unbelievable." He will be extremely missed for sure.
