Douglas Bailey Obituary

Douglas "Doug" A. Bailey, 85, passed away peacefully on October 25, 2025. Doug was born on January 7, 1940, in Lawton Oklahoma to Clyne Bailey and Ruby Parker-Bailey, who preceded him in death. Doug earned his bachelor's degree from St. Francis College in accounting and went on to become a Certified Public Accountant for GTE Phone Company, where he built a long and respected career of 32 years. Doug was an avid sports fan of the Detroit Tigers and Lions, and Indiana Hoosiers. Doug enjoyed volunteering with young students at FWCS, tutoring them in after-school reading programs. Doug will be remembered for his steady presence, his ornery wit, and his deep love for family. He is survived by his devoted wife of 62 years, Kathleen Bailey; brother Don (Rosa) Bailey of N. Charleston South Carolina; and children, Julie (Alan) Bowers, Trish (David) Kochanski, Mark (Julie) Bailey, and Mary (Gabe) Oberlin. Doug was a proud and loving grandfather to Alex Bowers; Shannon, Ally, Matt, and Jason Kochanski; Kasey Harris and Jacob Bailey; Luke and Andrew Bender and Heather and Katie Oberlin; and great-grandson Fielder Bailey, all of whom brought great joy and pride to his life. He never missed a moment to celebrate and support his grandchildren. Per Doug's request, there will be no public service. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Doug's favorite charity, Associated Churches of Fort Wayne and Allen County Food Bank, 602 E. Wayne Street, Fort Wayne, IN 46802, or online at AssociatedChurches.Org.

Mr. Bailey and Mrs. Bailey are truly dear to our family. As our neighbor and friend, he was a constant source of support and encouragement for
our girls Kelsey and Morgan. One of my favorite stories is when Morgan was doing door to door fundraiser sales. He would always ask if she

was selling elephants. Morgan gave him a puzzled look and tried to continue with her rehearsed sales
pitch, just to have Mr. Bailey interrupt with more comical questions. By the end of the experience, Morgan's childhood patience had run thin but there was a sale. Mr. Bailey always had her
laughing and smiling from ear to ear. He was just a big kid himself.

He will be missed so much. We love the Bailey family. We pray that God offers the Bailey family comfort and healing.
