Henry Taylor Obituary
Henry "Hank" Taylor, Jr., 67, of Kendallville, Indiana and Newhall, West Virginia died unexpectedly Saturday, May 17, 2025, at his residence in Kendallville.
He was born March 5, 1958, in Welch, West Virginia to Henry Taylor, Sr. and Geraldine (Bolen) Taylor.
In 1989, in Albion, he married Mary Jo Rodman.
He spent the majority of his life doing what he loved as an OTR/OWNER OPERATOR truck driver for nearly 30 years.
Henry enjoyed hunting, fishing, driving race cars, and most of all spending time with his grandkids. He was known to many as an expert marksman, precision driver, top notch mechanic, and was a member of his local volunteer fire department for many years
Members of his community honor his memory in saying he is a great person, a great man, a loving husband and I know he was a wonderful Dad and papaw. SPECIAL QUOTE FROM DAUGHTER, "He was considered the backbone of his family a pillar of honesty, strength, and protection. He was truly a legend, a mountain of a man, the one you called when you needed the right man for the job, the definition of what a daddy should be, and he will be remembered and missed by many".
Special quote from SON-IN-LAW, "Hank always treated me like a son, and I definitely looked at him like one / he took the time to teach me many things that I wouldn't know without him, and I will always cherish the time he spent with me. He will be dearly missed by me, his wife, his daughter, by my children and by many others".
Surviving are his wife of 44 years, Mary Jo Taylor; his children, Jessie "Taylor" Zachary Vance, Marshall (Chelsey) Kistler; bonus daughters, Barbara (Tim) Price and Jamie (Joshua) Richards; grandchildren, Bryden "Green Bean" Vance, Nichole "Sweet Pea" Vance, Raigan "Tater" Vance, Myles "Tadpole" Vance, Austin Richards, Coltin Kistler, David Goble, Jordan Price, Amanda Price, and Kimberly Price; 9 great-grandkids; two sisters, Katherine (Jeffery) Kistler and their family, Sarah Burnett, Vanessa Kathan, Nikki Morgan, Katrina Ormiston, Jeanette Frick, and 17 great nieces and nephews and Shirley "Kid" Irvin and her family, Christopher Irvin, Mariah Watkins, and four great nieces and nephews; Teresa Mitchem's family, Nathan Arms, Justin Arms, and three great nieces and nephews two brothers, Victor Taylor and Michael Taylor and his family, Jade Thompson, Dillion Taylor, Donnivan Taylor, and a great-nephew; and many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins.
He was also preceded in death by his parents; his great-grandma who raised him, Larah Hicks; a biological son; two sisters, Florence L. Taylor and Teresa Mitchem.
There will be no visitation or funeral services.
