Karen Hartman Obituary

Karen Rose Hartman, 79, of Kendallville, Indiana, died Monday, June 2, 2025, at her residence. She was born January 25, 1946, in Elkhart, Indiana, to Mark and Mabel (Frederick) Schrock. On February 17, 1973, in North Manchester, she married John J. Hartman. Karen sold Avon for 40 years. She was also the choir director at Faith United Methodist Church in Kendallville for over 20 years. She enjoyed her cats and took part in a ladies bowling league in Kendallville. She loved supporting her sons' musical talents and made every effort to be at their performances. Surviving are her husband of 52 years, John J. Hartman of Kendallville; two sons, Jonathan Hartman of Kendallville and Karl (Jamie) Hartman of Whitestown, Indiana; two grandchildren, Amelia Hartman and Kate Hartman; two brothers, Gladden Schrock of Bangor, Maine and Karl (Ron) Schrock of Kalamazoo, Michigan. She was preceded in death by her parents; a daughter, Elizabeth Hartman; two sisters, Jeanne Kime and Grace Morentz; and a brother, Julian Schrock. Funeral services will be Friday, June 6, 2025, at 11 a.m. at Faith United Methodist Church, 411 Harding Street, Kendallville, with Pastor Kim Kennedy officiating. Visitation will also be on Friday, one hour prior to the funeral service. Young Family Funeral Home, Kendallville Chapel, 222 South State Street, Kendallville is assisting the family with arrangements.
