Larry Green Obituary

Larry E. Green, age 86, of Van Buren, Indiana, passed away peacefully at 8:45 AM on Monday, July 14, 2025, at Heritage Pointe in Warren, Indiana. He was born in Van Buren to Edward R. Green and Vivian "Isabelle" (Endicott) Green on January 3, 1939. A 1957 graduate of Van Buren High School, Larry went on to work for Indiana Bell (AT&T), where he dedicated 34 years of service before retiring. On August 8, 1958, he married the love of his life, Elsie Mae (Cunningham), and they shared a beautiful marriage until her passing on December 9, 2020. Larry was a devoted member of Farrville Community Church for approximately 54 years, where he served faithfully and built lasting friendships rooted in faith and kindness. He was a man of quiet strength and gentle wisdom-good-hearted, easy to talk to, and always ready to lend a helping hand. His generous nature and support for his community made him a trusted friend to many. One of Larry's greatest joys in life was riding motorcycles. He and Elsie loved taking spontaneous road trips together, often heading out on adventures with no specific destination-just the open road and each other. After her passing, Larry continued to ride and remained actively involved in the Christian Motorcyclists Association (CMA) for 35 years. He held memberships in both Indiana and Florida chapters, participating in countless rides and enjoying many winters in Sarasota, Florida. He was proud to be CMA Member #33,827 and cherished the community and ministry the group brought into his life. His loyal companion and special friend in later years was Shirley Chapman of Marion, Indiana. Larry is survived by his children: Ed Green and wife Patti of Livonia, Michigan, and Mark Green and wife Sharon of Huntington, Indiana. His grandchildren include Eric Green of Livonia, Michigan, Laura Green of Knoxville, Tennessee, Zachary Green and his girlfriend Mandy Gearhart of Huntington, Indiana, Alex and her husband Ryan Beeching of Andrews, Indiana, Samantha and her husband Branden Holder of Noblesville, Indiana and sister in law, Sandra Green of Syracuse, IN. Larry was also the proud great-grandfather of ten great-granddaughters. He was preceded in death by his wife, Elsie Green, daughter Connie Sue Greenwalt, brother Richard A. "Dick" Green and sister Sara S. O'Neil. A celebration of Larry's life will take place on Saturday, August 2, 2025, at Farrville Community Church, located at 11044 E 200 N, Marion, Indiana, 46952. Visitation will begin at 3:00 PM with a memorial service to follow at 4:00 PM, officiated by Pastor Al Soultz. All are welcome to remain for a fellowship dinner at the church following the service. Larry will be laid to rest at a later date at Van Buren Cemetery. He was able to have his last wishes fulfilled by donating his body to IU School of Medicine, where he will help current students further their education. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Farrville Community Church, 11044 E 200 N, Marion, IN 46952, or to the Christian Motorcyclists Association – Run for the Son, P.O. Box 9, Hatfield, AR 71945. Please note that donations given in Larry's name should include his CMA Member Number: 33,827. Larry's dad, Ed Green used to cut my hair in Van Buren, It began when I was so young and small that Mr. Green had to place a board across the arms of the barber chair for me to set one. I also think he would give me a piece of candy at the end. The cost of haircut was one dollar. I was a class mate to his brother Richard (Dick). Glad he will be resting in Van Buren.
