Lowell Damron Obituary
Lowell E. Damron, a devoted husband, father, and grandfather, passed away peacefully on September 10, 2025, at the age of 83, surrounded by the love of his Wife and family Friend hours before he passed.
Born on February 26, 1942, in Tram, Kentucky, to Wayne and Emma (Layne) Damron, Lowell grew into a kind and gentle soul, whose life was marked by dedication, hard work, and a deep love for his family. On September 23, 1963, he married his beloved wife, Mildred Gay Charles, in Clintwood, Virginia, and together they built a life filled with joy, laughter, and adventure.
Throughout his career, Lowell worked diligently as a warehouse forklift driver for Renaissance Publishing Company, retiring in 2002 with a sense of pride and accomplishment. In his free time, he delighted in solving jigsaw puzzles, tending to his flowers, marveling at the wonder of trains and working on cars with his Sons, Brothers and nephews. Above all, he cherished the moments spent with his family, creating memories that will be treasured for generations to come.
Lowell is survived by his loving wife, Mildred Gay (Charles) Damron of Auburn; three children who adore him, Christopher Damron of Syracuse, Bradford (Maggie) Damron of Ashley, and Rebecca Damron of Fort Wayne; five grandchildren who brought immense joy to his life, Anissa (Jeremy) Carter of Hamilton, Sergeant Zakkairy (Cassie) Johnson of Charleston, South Carolina, Josephine Johnson of Huntington, Amber (Dempsey) Stafford of Corunna, and Victoria (Andrew) Damron of Lebanon; four great-grandchildren who stole his heart, Andrew Johnson of Hamilton, Alexander Morgan of Hamilton, Grayson Johnson of Charleston, South Carolina, and Prudance Manard of Huntington; three siblings who stood by him, Jimmy Damron of Angola, Avonell Patrick of Tram, Kentucky, and Bobby (Amalene) Damron of Dayton, Ohio; and several nieces and nephews who fondly remember him.
Though he's shifted gears into eternal rest, his legacy keeps running smooth, fueled by the memories of family, greased by laughter, and driven by passion - whether under the hood, in the garden, or chasing trains down the track. Lowell reunites with his parents, his son Keith Damron, and his Brother Claude Damron.
A memorial service will be held on Friday, September 19, 2025, at 2 p.m. at Feller and Clark Funeral Home, 875 S. Wayne St., Waterloo, with the Reverend Rob Barton officiating. Burial will follow at Circle Hill Cemetery in Angola. Visitation will take place from noon to 2 p.m. on the same day at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Feller and Clark Funeral Home to assist with expenses. As we bid farewell to this remarkable man, we take comfort in the memories of his life, his love, and his legacy, which will continue to inspire and guide us all.
