Marilyn Stoffel Obituary
Marilyn Louise Stoffel age 89, of Huntington, IN, passed away on Tuesday, September 23, 2025, at her residence surrounded by her family.
Mrs. Stoffel was born on May 14, 1936, in Philadelphia, PA, to the late John F. and Nadene E. (Dumbauld) Kapp. She married Edward J. Stoffel on August 31, 1957, at SS Peter and Paul Catholic Church, and he preceded her in death on July 22, 2020.
Marilyn was a 1955 graduate of Huntington Catholic High School. She was a homemaker and later she enjoyed working at McCombs Hallmark Store. She was a member of SS. Peter & Paul Catholic Church in Huntington and a member of Gollner Guild, the Rosary Sodality and helped with funeral dinners. Marilyn loved her children and all her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was a blessing to her family and all who knew her.
Marilyn is survived by five sons, Dan Stoffel, Huntington, IN; Bernie (Michelle) Stoffel, Huntington, IN; Matt (Jamie) Stoffel, Huntington, IN; David Stoffel, Huntington, IN; and Ben (Amy) Stoffel, Hershey, PA; three daughters, Debbie (Dan) Scheiber, Huntington, IN; Judy Shaw, Huntington, IN; and Rachel (Chad) Brumbaugh, Huntington, IN. She is also survived by 25 grandchildren and 63 great- grandchildren.
Along with her parents and husband she was preceded in death by one brother, David Kapp.
Calling hours will be held on Friday, October 3, 2025, from 2:00 pm to 7:00 pm at McElhaney Funeral Home, 715 N. Jefferson Street, Huntington, IN 46750. The family requests that you write down a story about Marilyn that they can read and enjoy later with family.
Recitation of the Rosary will begin at 10:30 am Saturday, October 4, 2025, prior to the Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 a.m. all at SS. Peter & Paul Catholic Church, 860 Cherry Street, Huntington, IN, 46750, with Fr. Tony Steinacker presiding.
Burial will be at Mt. Calvary Cemetery, Huntington, IN.
In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to either SS. Peter & Paul Catholic Church, St. Mary Catholic Church for Masses or special needs, or Allen County Right to Life in care of McElhaney Funeral Home, 715 N. Jefferson Street, Huntington, IN 46750.
