Matthew Anderson Obituary

With profound sadness, the family of Matthew G. Anderson announces his sudden passing. Matt was a devoted husband and loving father who left us too soon on June 20, 2025 at the age of 43. Matt was born on November 23, 1981 in Janesville, WI, the first child of Theresa L. (Bothun) Anderson and Larry L. Anderson. He was preceded in death by his mother (Theresa), father-in-law (Randy), and by his daughter Grace. He married the only love of his life, Cyndi, on May 13, 2006 at St. Jude Catholic Church in Fort Wayne, and together they built a home filled with noise – sounds that meant love, laughter, and pranks. He is survived by many, including his beloved wife, and their three children, Isabelle (age 18), Branden (age 15), and Jacob (age 11); his sister Michelle Lee (Christopher), father Larry Anderson (Annette), and step-sisters, Amanda Franken and Emily Gottfried (Gavin); his many in-laws: Amanda Starks (Jon), Jason Sroufe (Stephanie), Matthew Sroufe (Alli), Sam Sroufe (Jordan), Joe Sroufe (Haley); and even more nieces and nephews: Ava, Addison, Derrick, Aaron, Hailey, Emma, Ashley, Addison, Abigail, Isaiah, Elija, and Ashton. Matt was a very hard worker, but, no matter what, he sacrificed everything that he could for his family. He was a great story teller (whether true or not) and had a huge appetite for jokes and pranks. No one was spared, not even Matt. Despite being ornery and cantankerous, he was a big softie and willing to help out any one at any time. Everyone who passed through their house was family, and family gets fed. Matt was a grillmaster and a meat smoker – everyone loved his burgers and smoked turkey. But he was no veggie lover – a Wisconsinite from birth, he retained his love of smoked meats and cheeses. Matt was Mr. Jones in 'keeping up with the Joneses' – he was constantly maintaining his lawn and waiting for the neighbors to keep up with him. He was an electronics engineer by trade, and he had a love for tools (specifically Milwaukee) and was always working on his house, his cars, or helping others. He was always willing to help others in need. He may have complained a time or two about the dogs, but he had a deep affection for them. Family and friends are invited to call on Tuesday, June 24th from 5pm to 7pm and Wednesday, June 25th from 11am to 2pm at Divine Mercy Funeral Home, 3500 Lake Avenue Fort Wayne, IN 46805. A funeral service for Matt will be held on Wednesday, June 24 at 2pm at Divine Mercy. A graveside ceremony will be held immediately following the service. For those that are looking to support the family during this time, a fund has been started to help provide for immediate needs. Not one but many memories of you Matt. That goofy grin you got when you were either telling a half truth or a complete BS story. There never was a dull moment with you, you were always entertaining!! We worked hard together and enjoyed our time off together with our families!! I always had the utmost respect for you taking care of your sister after your mom died and how you are such a great uncle to Cindi´s brothers!! I will miss you Jr!! Until we meet again brother, I love you!!
