Millie Smith Obituary

Millie Ann Smith, 79, of Avilla, Indiana, passed away on Sunday, August 17, 2025, in Fort Wayne, Indiana, surrounded by loved ones. She was born on March 2, 1946, to Edgar and Ora (Jones) Thompson, in Stearns, Kentucky. On October 4, 1980, Millie married Robert "Tom" Smith, in Muncie, Indiana. Known as "Tom's Princess", Millie enjoyed the flowers Tom tended to in their gardens. They traveled together frequently to many places, with the Smokie Mountains and Pigeon Forge being their favorite. Tom was Millie's devoted husband, even when his only job was to hold the many shopping bags she filled on their travels. Millie spent a lot of time with her nieces and nephews and enjoyed their sporting events. Survivors include her husband, Tom Smith; siblings, Pauline Foust, of Cincinnati, OH, Glen (Geri) Thompson, of Dry Ridge, KY, Lloyd (Evelyn) Thompson, of Muncie, IN, Joan (Tom) Adams, of Ligonier, IN, and Elizabeth (James) Foster, of Stearns, KY; and many loved nieces and nephews. Preceding Millie in death are her parents Edgar and Ora Thompson; sisters Viola Kelly, Helen Thomas; brothers Richard Thompson and Vernan Thompson. Celebration of life will be held at a later date.
