Patrick O'Banion Obituary

Patrick E. O'Banion, age 87, of Huntington, IN, passed away on Monday, August 25, 2025, at Lutheran Hospital in Fort Wayne, IN. Patrick was born on March 8, 1938, in Marion, IN, to the late Chester Earl and Margaret Lucille (Clark) O'Banion. Patrick married Judith Brock on December 19, 1959, and she survives and resides in Huntington, IN. Pat was a 1958 graduate of Lafontaine High School and proudly served in the United States Army. He retired as a Foundry Supervisor at Ford Meter Box after working for 42 years. He was a member of SS. Peter & Paul Catholic Church, in Huntington, IN. Pat coached for the YMCA Kim League for 13 years and enjoyed working as a recess aide at Riverview Middle School during retirement. Along with his wife, Judy, he is survived by one son, Dan (Kim) O'Banion, Huntington, IN; one daughter, Darlene Kay O'Banion, Huntington, IN; one granddaughter, Morgan O'Banion; and one great-granddaughter, Amelia. Along with his parents he was preceded in death by one son, Douglas Patrick O'Banion; one daughter, Jill Ann O'Banion; four brothers, Ed O'Banion, Bill O'Banion, Tom O'Banion, Jim O'Banion; and three sisters, Janice Ramp, Mary Zoda, and Kay Daughterty. Calling hours will be held on Friday, September 5, 2025, from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m., followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 a.m. all at SS Peter & Paul Catholic Church, 860 Cherry Street, Huntington, IN, with Fr. Tony Steinacker presiding. A private burial will be at Mt. Hope Cemetery at a later date. In lieu of flowers, preferred memorials are to Riley Children's Hospital or the Honor Flight Northeast Indiana in care of McElhaney Funeral Home, 715 N. Jefferson St., Huntington, IN 46750.
