Richard Green Obituary

Richard Amiel Green, 93, of Churubusco, Indiana, passed away Tuesday, August 26, 2025, at home surrounded by family. Born July 15, 1932, in Churubusco, Indiana, he was the son of the late Charles "Bun" and Ida "Peggy" (Hoover) Green. He attended Huntertown High School before being drafted in the U.S. Army and was a combat engineer with Company E 76th Engineer Construction during the Korean War. Grumpy worked for 30 years with Dana and had been a mechanic for Bob Ambers Chevy. He was a member of VFW and American Legion in Churubusco. Grumpy was a self-taught wood carver, which he lovingly called whittling. He liked to use his pocketknife, because he could carry it with him. He always said the secret of carving wood was in keeping your knife sharp. Grumpy loved to buy and sell items at the auctions. He was a jack of all trade who loved to tinker and help anyone in the community that needed help. Grumpy is survived by his children, Rob (Kathy) Green, Christopher (June) Green, and Sandy (Patrick) Patton; numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren. Along with his parents Grumpy is preceded in death by his wife, Georgia Green; son, Rick Green; and brothers, Keith Green and Paul "Butch" Green. Graveside Service with military honors will be held on Saturday, August 30, 2025, at 11:00 am at Eel River Cemetery, Churubusco, Indiana. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be given in memory of Grumpy to the Disabled American Veterans.
