Richard Jones Obituary

Richard E. Jones, 86, of 202 S. Whitley Street, Columbia City, passed away Friday, July 11 at his home. Born on March 31, 1939, a son of Francis and Claudine (Traster) Jones, Richard lived his entire life in Columbia City, graduating from Columbia City High School in 1957. He then he attended International College with an accounting degree. He later retired from Rea Wire. On June 19, 1959, he married Cynthia Hoffman. They made their home in Columbia City. They have three children; Craig (Shelly) Jones of Virgina; Paige (Kevin Ewing) Jones of Tri-Lakes; and Chad (Linda) Jones of Columbia City. Richard was a past member of Columbia City Jaycees serving as President. He was a life member of Columbia City Elks and was Exalted Ruler. He enjoyed golfing, trap shooting, spending time with family and walking his dogs. He is survived by his son Craig and daughter, Paige; two grandsons, Jake Harvey of Columbia City and Andrew Jones of Fort Wayne; a sister, Sharon Sauers of Columbia City; and daughter-in-law, Linda Jones of Columbia City. Additionally, he was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Cindy and his son, Chad. A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, August 23rd from 1 to 4 p.m. at Smith & Sons Coach Room, 205 North Main Street, Columbia City.
