Shannon Brown Obituary

Shannon Ashlei (Brown) Ladd, 37, passed away unexpectedly on August 10, 2025, at Parkview Hospital in Fort Wayne, Indiana. Born in July 6, 1988, in Sturgis, Michigan, Shannon's life was a vibrant tapestry woven with love for her family, an infectious laugh and a joy for life's simple pleasures. Shannon found delight in shopping, pampering herself, and doing her best to make others feel special, always with a thoughtful gesture, a small gift, or a listening ear. She had a deep and lifelong affection for frogs, collecting them in every form. She loved the beach, where the waves and sunshine brought her peace. Nothing brought her more joy than her family. Her mamma was her anchor, her safe place, and the center of so much of her heart. This year she became a Grammy to two new grandchildren, who quickly became the light of her life. Shannon's proudest role in life was being a mother and grandmother. She adored her son, Samuel, and her daughter, Taylor, and the bond she shared with them was special. Samuel welcomed a newborn son, and Taylor a baby girl just several months ago. To Shannon, her grandson and granddaughter were the very heart of her world. She cherished every smile, every tiny milestone, dreamed of watching them grow, and showering them with love and devotion. Shannon shared her life with her husband, Matt, in a love that was both steadfast and playful. Having known each other since they were young, they finally found their way to one another in 2019, and in 2024 they were married. Their relationship was built on a quiet understanding, a deep care, and the joy of making each other happy in simple ways. A favorite memory for them from earlier this year is when Shannon wanted to go swimming, but they had no pool. Matt lined the back if his pickup truck, filled it with water, and made her a swimming pool. That moment, full of laughter and love, captured exactly who they were together. Matt is truly devastated by her loss, as are all who knew the warmth of their bond. Two years ago, she overcame odds in a way that her loved ones will forever call a miracle. After overcoming a devastating illness, Shannon spent the next two years becoming the best version of herself. Her resilience and spirit during that time became an inspiration to all who knew her. She was preceded in death by her father, Marion Parish Jr., bonus-dad, Roger Schwemer; grandparents, Albert Dunham, Alana Wolffradt, Marion (Shirley) Parish, Yvonne Cockerham, as well as tow aunts and an uncle. She is survived by her husband, Matthew Ladd; children, Samuel Barnett (Angelica Burk), and Taylor Brown (Treydon Perry); bonus-children, Mayilaya Ladd, and Dean Ladd; two grandchildren; mother, Dawn Schwemer; siblings, Heather (Brett) Staeker, Michael (Alina) Parish, Casie (David) Bender, Laura (Aaron) Vedmore; bonus-siblings, Mary Lindsey, and Wesley (Karen) Shultz; bonus-grandpa, Ray Cockerham, aunts, uncles and many other loving relatives and friends. A celebration of life will be held at 1:00 pm, August 31, 2025, at Sand Lake, Nottawa, Michigan. In honor of Shannon, please wear something bright or bring a small frog keepsake to share in her memory. Her family asks that you remember Shannon not for her passing, but for her laughter, her love, and the way she made the world a little softer for everyone she met.
