Shelley Carley Obituary

Shelley Ann Carley, 59, of rural Columbia City, passed away at 6:47 p.m. Thursday, June 26, 2025, at Parkview Randallia Hospital in Fort Wayne. Born on March 22, 1966, in Columbia City, Indiana, she was the daughter of James R. Mace and Connie S. (Smith) Mace. Growing up in Columbia Twp., she completed Columbia Twp. School and graduated from Columbia City Joint High School in 1984. She continued her education at Huntington University, earning an Associate's Degree and a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration. On August 12, 1989, she married Mitchell J. Carley. They made their first home in Wolf Lake, then Columbia City, and for the past 16 years in Columbia Twp. For over 30 years, she worked for Jeld-Wen Door in Ligonier. A skilled bowler, she participated in the local bowling league and kept an ongoing rivalry with her mother on who was the best bowler. Surviving are her husband of 35 years, Mitchell, and her mother, Connie S. Reimer, both of Columbia City. She was preceded in death by her father, James Mace. A memorial gathering will begin at 6 p.m. on Tuesday, July 8, at Tri-Lakes Baptist Church, 5679 N. Center St., Columbia City, IN 46725, with a Memorial service starting at 7 p.m. Arrangements are in the care of Smith & Sons Funeral Home, Columbia City. Memorials in Shelley's honor at to the Diabetes Association.
