Stephanie D. Schmitt, 65, of Auburn, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on Monday, July 14, 2025. She was born on September 4, 1959, in Franklin, Indiana, to the late Richard and Shirley Hoffman. Stephanie dedicated her career to helping others as a physical therapist, working in hospitals across the country. Most recently, she served patients at DeKalb Memorial Hospital, where she was known for her compassion and professionalism. Outside of work, Stephanie found joy in dancing and singing karaoke with her husband, sharing laughter and music wherever they went. She is survived by her loving husband, Robert Schmitt of Auburn; son, Ben Owens of Auburn; daughter, Rachel Owens of Lexington, Kentucky; stepdaughter, Suzzane Schmitt of Fort Wayne; and her cherished granddaughter, Zoey Butler. Stephanie was preceded in death by her parents. A memorial service to celebrate Stephanie's life will be held at a later date.
