Albert Kleinschmidt Obituary

Albert Henry Kleinschmidt, 62, of West Conshohocken, PA died on October 24, 2025. He was the husband of Kelly (Casino) Kleinschmidt. Al was born in Philadelphia, PA on October 30, 1962 to the late Robert and Margot (Haessler) Kleinschmidt. Al was proud of his roots and often reflected fondly on his time growing up in the Wissahickon. By day, Al dedicated over four decades to the architectural hardware industry, including 21 years with ASSA ABLOY as a Specification Writer and Consultant. He will be remembered by colleagues for his steadfast professionalism, supportive spirit, and diplomatic nature. Always able to keep calm under pressure, he was playfully known as the "Chaos Coordinator." By night, Al pursued his true passion: music. He was an immensely talented, self-taught musician who could play multiple instruments, including drums, harmonica, and guitar, but he came to life on the keyboard. Having been a part of the Philadelphia area music scene for most of his life, he sat in with countless local bands through the years but is best remembered for his over 30 years as a beloved member of "The Road Dogs", who affectionately referred to him as "Reverend Al" or "Rev". He truly loved to play and made many friends and fans along the way. Al had a great sense of humor, a gentle spirit and a heart that was always open to others. He was selfless with his time, his laughter, his talent, and his love - whether across the street or across the years. Steady, dependable and kind, Al loved his life and life loved him back. He was active in his community and loved his neighbors, having served on West Conshohocken's Borough Council and Zoning Board for many years. Beyond his music, nothing made Al happier than filling his home with those he loved, whether it was a simple dinner with family and friends, a birthday, a holiday, or a long-awaited reunion with his many siblings, whom he loved dearly. Along with his wife, Kelly, he is survived by his children: Sam Gidley (Beth) and Megan Leflar (Brian); his grandsons, Lucas, Maxwell, Theodore, Benjamin, and Leo, who lovingly knew him as "Opi." His memory will also be cherished by his siblings: Bob Kleinschmidt (Roxie), Kurt Kleinschmidt (Lynne), Stephen Kleinschmidt (Kim), Diana Bayer (Jim), and Linda Peterson (the late Randy), he is further survived by his best friend, Arthur Augustine, who was his brother in his heart, and his oldest friend, Gary McPherson, with whom he shared a friendship spanning back to toddlerhood, as well as many cherished nieces, nephews, cousins and vast family of musicians. The goodness Al sowed in this world will live on forever in all of the lives he touched. Al was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, friend, uncle, cousin, bandmate, colleague and neighbor. We are honored to have loved him and to have been loved by him. He will be deeply missed. A celebration of Al's life will be held privately at a later date. In lieu of flowers, go out and support your local bands - and be a good neighbor! From my moments with Al he was a true gentleman by nature and his kindness & sincerity were as natural as his musical interests and accomplishments. He will surely be missed by everyone who ever had the pleasure of knowing him.

My condolences to Kelly and the kids and to Al's extended family.
