Obituary: REMEMBERING ALBERT LAE
11/15/1950 – 11/01/2025
Albert Lae, 74 years old, of Allentown, Pennsylvania, went to be with the Lord on November 1, 2025, at Lehigh Valley Hospital. He was born in Rangoon, Burma on
November 15, 1950. The son of Pu Ta Lae, Albert was the oldest of five children. His brothers were Saw Lai Hsi, Saw Tu, Saw William, and his sister was Naw Bae Ta. When
he was young, he attended Catholic school in Rangoon where he learned English and completed seventh grade. Albert married Baw Tay in 1975, and they opened their home
to their 3 children –Blay Paw, Tah Eh, and Sho Gay. Together, with their children and grandchildren, they went to Thailand in 1996, to be safe from the Burmese army. In
2009, they came to the United States, to provide a new life for their family.
Albert was a farmer in Burma, growing bittanut, coconut, pineapples, and mangos. He enjoyed fishing and playing soccer He also served as a signal officer for the Karen
National Liberation Army with the rank of a 2-star officer. In 1996, he became a refugee in Thailand and served as a security officer in the camp. And in the United States, he
worked in food services at Lehigh Valley Hospital Cedar Crest.
Albert's faith was important to him. He was baptized when he was young and became a member of Whitehall Mennonite Church when he moved to the US. Most important to
Albert was taking care of his family. Before he retired, he would often say it doesn't matter if it's cold, or raining, or snowing, I will go to work because my job is not done
yet. I must take care of my family. Albert helped care for his grandchildren when they were young and cared for his wife until she passed away on March 1, 2022.
Albert was preceded in death by his parents, 2 brothers and 1 sister, as well as by his wife Baw Tay. He is survived by his daughter, Blay Paw (Yar Kaw), his sons Tah Eh and Hso
Gay, by his grandchildren: Eh Yar (Ehkler Moo), Ester Ya Kaw, Elle Yar Kaw, Ezeri Yah, Doh Nay Kaw, and Hser Gay Tue Kaw, three great-grandsons, and many nieces and
nephews.
