Alexandra Pfennig Obituary
Alexandra Jean "Sandy" (Geffert) Pfennig, passed away peacefully to be with her Lord and Savior at the age of 85 on June 16, 2025.
Born in 1940 on January 8, in McAdoo, PA, Sandy was predeceased by her loving husband of 52 years, Rudy Pfennig, Jr., her parents Paul P. and Aleksandra (Alice) (nee Glinsky) Geffert, and her brother Paul F. Geffert.
She resided for many years with her husband in Laureldale, PA and spent the last several years of her life in Boyertown, PA at the Chestnut Knoll Memory Care facility.
Sandy will always be lovingly remembered by her daughter, Eileen Brennan, her son and daughter-in-law, Erik and Becky Pfennig; grandchildren Sam and Kara Brennan, Kelsey and Matt
Beyer, Katherine Brennan, Meredith Pfennig, Lauren Brennan, Jocelyn Opalenick and Joey Opalenick; and two great grandchildren. She is also survived by her sister-in-law, Karen Geffert,
her nephews and niece, Paul Geffert, Sandra Moore, and Michael Geffert, all of Texas.
Sandy graduated from McAdoo High School in 1957 and the Reading Hospital School of Nursing in 1960, then worked proudly for many years at the Reading Hospital as an RN. After
retiring from nursing, Sandy became a supervisor of home health aides for the Medical Personnel Pool. Later in life, she volunteered as an aide for disabled adults through the
Crosswalks organization. The pediatric patients and the Crosswalks participants held a special place in her heart.
Sandy devoted her life to her family and to her strong faith; she was a member of The Polish National Catholic Church, St. Stephen's Parish in Mohnton, PA. Her greatest joy came from
singing in the Bishop Hodur Choir, volunteering for the Ladies Adoration Society, and the church book club. She also participated in her neighborhood bible study in Laureldale.
Many friends will remember her love of fitness, her daily two-mile walks, and exercise mornings at Curves and Planet Fitness where she also gathered with her workout friends for bagel
Tuesdays.
Sandy was a fantastic cook and baker, she looked forward to spending fun outings with her friends, and she enjoyed her nightly cabernet wine. It is unfortunate that dementia took hold of
her final years and stole the memories of her full life, but even so she remained joyful and always had a smile.
A funeral service for Sandy's family and friends will be held Saturday, June 21st at 10 a.m. at Stitzel Family Funeral Homes & Crematory, Inc., 3300 Kutztown Road, Laureldale. A viewing will be held from 9-10 a.m. Private interment to follow.
In lieu of flowers, our mother's wish was that you please donate to St. Stephen's PNCC, 20 St. Stephens Church Lane, Reading, PA 19607.
