Anthony Koneski Obituary

Anthony T. Koneski, Sr., went home to be with his beloved wife, Elizabeth (Bess) surrounded by loving family on Oct. 12, 2025, at the age of 93. Tony was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather. Nothing brought him more joy than being surrounded by family on holidays and picnics and any time in between. He was always ready to engage in conversation, make jokes, laugh, and horseplay with his grandchildren and great grandchildren. Tony enlisted in the Navy in 1949, received his Honorable Discharge in 1951. Upon leaving the Service, he began a career in the construction industry. Later in 1951, he married the love of his life, Elizabeth (Bess) Urffer, with whom he shared 69 years of married life. Tony was devoted to Bess and his family. In 1974, he began his own Construction Company, Anthony T. Koneski, Inc. He built hundreds of homes along with additions, kitchens, basements, and renovations. His mantra always was "Do it the way you would want someone to do yours". He served on the Lehigh Valley Builders Association as a Board member and as its President from 2008 – 2012. Tony loved golf, he played for many years with "The Investors" at Wedgewood Golf Course. He and Bess were also members at Silver Creek Country Club and then moved on to Golden Oaks Golf Club. Tony made countless friends at each of his stops. He also coached baseball in the EYA for the Catholic War Vets B league and A league teams and CYO basketball at St. Ann in Emmaus. Tony was predeceased by his mother, Antonia (Baczak) Koneski and his father, Anthony Koneski and his beloved wife, Elizabeth (Bess) Koneski, daughter of Marvin and Miriam (Dorward) Urffer. He was also predeceased by siblings, Celia Moyer, Helen Gehman, Mary Koneski, George Koneski, and grandson, Anthony John Koneski and great granddaughter, Adelina Siena Barracato. He is survived by his sons, Anthony (Marcia) Koneski; Michael (Samantha) Koneski, former daughter-in-law, Jane (Buonnassisi) Koneski; 4 grandchildren, Leah (Ivan) Alicea, Anna (Tyler Schooley) Koneski, Megan (Steven) Barracato, and Thaddeus (Emily) Koneski; great grandchildren, Alorek Koneski, Alice Koneski, Oscar Alicea, Ezra Koneski, Frankie Koneski, and Elodie Koneski; brother, Frank Koneski; numerous nieces and nephews. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Fri., Oct. 17, 2025 at 11:00 AM at St. Ann's Catholic Church, 415 S. 6th St., Emmaus. Viewing 9:00 to 10:30 AM in Schantz Funeral Home, P.C., 250 Main Street, Emmaus. Interment with military honors will follow in Calvary Cemetery, Emmaus. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society. Tony will be loved, missed, and cherished by family and friends.
