Arthur Charles Becker

Arthur Charles Becker, 102, of Darien, CT, passed away Sunday, September 7 at Stamford Hospital surrounded by his loving family. He was the widower of Iva (Bell) Becker whom he married on December 10, 1949. Born October 7, 1922, he was the son of the late Frederick Becker and Gertrude (Gruhn). Arthur was a 1940 graduate of Stuyvesant High School in Manhattan. He later attended Drexel Institute and Temple University but was not able to finish since he was called on to serve our country. He proudly served in the Army during World War 2 in the Signal Corp. He remained an active member of the American Legion. After returning from the war Arthur was employed at Triangle Publications where he worked as a lithographer. Arthur then worked in Senior management and was Secretary of Great Atlantic Graphics Corporation in Malvern where he retired in 1986. Art's hobby and life long passion was amateur radio and he was a HAM radio operator for over 75 years. His call letters were W3JZN. Surviving are two children, Kenneth Becker of Maryland, and Constance Ulrich-Martin, wife of Kevin Martin of Bonita Springs, FL. Four grandchildren are surviving: Alison (Ulrich) Pang, wife of Stephen of Darien, CT; Jeremy Becker, husband of Claire of Stark, NH; Meredith (Martin) Mischler, wife of Patrick of Covington, LA; and Leah (Martin) Duff, wife of Aaron of Benton, PA. There are seven great grandchildren surviving: Miles Pang; Christopher Becker; Henry Becker; Henry Mischler; Willow Duff; Violet Duff; and Noa Pang. Arthur is survived by one brother, Dr. Edward Becker, of Maryland. A service will be held Saturday October 4, 2025 at 12 p.m. at the Stitzel Family Funeral Homes & Crematory Inc., Oley. A visitation will be held prior from 11 a.m. to 12 p.m. at the same location. Burial will be private at the convenience of the family.
