August Kuss Obituary

It is with deep respect and heartfelt sorrow that we announce the passing of August Charles Kuss III "Chick", a beloved father, grandfather, great-grandfather, friend and proud veteran who died on August 24, 2025 at the age of 94. Born on March 4, 1931 in Allentown, Chick lived a life defined by quiet strength, humility and honor. Following his graduation from Lehigh University in 1952 with a B.S. in Business, he served in the U.S. Navy for four years, becoming a Junior Lieutenant during the Korean War. His commitment to his country, community and Lehigh University was unwavering as he showed through various volunteer jobs for many years. He received the Lehigh Alumni award for outstanding volunteer in 2017. After his military service, Chick returned home and continued to lead by example as a dedicated business professional. He married his sweetheart, Gloria Egizio, who he was married to for 49 years until her passing in 2007. He began his career with International Salt Co. in Scranton, PA and then moved on to the V.P. of Operations for the family business, A-Treat Bottling Company until 1995. He along with Gloria, were wonderful, supportive parents to daughters Carolyn and Jane. A man of many varied interests, he never lost the will to learn by reading. He enjoyed golf and was a long-time member of Lehigh Country Club. His other keen interests included travel, gardening and art. Those who knew him will remember him for his integrity, warm smile and sense of humor. He was the consummate gentleman. Above all, he loved his family, which brought him his greatest joy. He loved his daughters, Carolyn K. wife of Stephen F. Anderson and Jane K. wife of Stephen M. Zamojski, his four grandchildren (the kiddies), Michael and his wife Anne, Matthew and his wife Sarah, Camrin and her husband Jeff and Bradley and his wife Emily. In addition, he marveled at having four great-grandchildren, August, Graham, Charlie and Sylvie, and a fifth one on the way. Chick will be remembered for his values and guiding principals that he passed on to his children and grandchildren. Later in life, he enjoyed time with his companion and special friend, Corinne Coury. A celebration of life will be held at the convenience of the family.
