Barbara A. Zegalia

Barbara A. Zegalia, 87, of Sciota, passed away on Monday, September 15, 2025, at Lehigh Valley Hospital-Muhlenberg. She was the loving wife of the late Michael W. Zegalia, who was a Master Sergeant in the Army and World War II Veteran. They celebrated 32 years of marriage together before his passing in 2010. Born on July 28, 1938, in Ross Common, PA, she was the daughter of the late Ralph Buskirk and the late Christina (Beck) Buskirk. Barbara was one of the first women bus drivers in Northeast Pennsylvania. She worked in the federal government through the USDA and later worked in the unemployment office for many years before retiring at 64. She loved traveling and flying across the country out west visiting many places. Whenever she was traveling with family, she made sure everyone knew who was in the captain's seat. Barbara loved square dancing and was a member of the Leisure Squares Group. She enjoyed attending her son Shawn's car races when he was younger, and also enjoyed visiting her son Chris's farm with family in Clearfield County, PA. She adored her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Most of all, she was a loving and caring wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend. Barbara will be deeply missed by all her friends and family. Barbara is survived by her sons, Zane Grey Burke and his wife Evelyn; Christie Burke, Shawn Burke and his wife Theresa, Shannon Burke; seven grandchildren, Brooke Nelson and her husband Randy, Zane Bradley Burke, Austin Michael Burke, Michaela Lynn Burke, Colby Burke, Kyle Burke, Katherine Burke; two great grandchildren: Cohen and Ella; and many loving nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband and parents, she was predeceased by two sisters, Francis Hill and Gertrude Hennion, and a step-sister, Debbie Siegfried. A viewing will be held on Tuesday, September 23, 2025, from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM at the Kresge Funeral Home, 1763 Route 209, Brodheadsville. Services will follow at 12:00 PM at the funeral home. A burial will be held on Wednesday, September 24, 2025, at 12:30 PM in Fort Indiantown Gap National Cemetery, Annville, PA.
