Carl E. James, Sr., 90, of Lehigh Twp., passed away peacefully, at his residence, while surrounded by his loving family on Monday, March 24, 2025. He was the beloved husband of Patricia James to whom he was married to for 62 years. Born in Allentown, Carl was a son of the late Emerson and Rose James (Uttard).
Carl served honorably in the Army, and after his military service, he dedicated much of his career to being a Systems Analyst at the Lehigh Valley Post Office. His inquisitive nature extended to his personal passions, as he spent countless hours working on cars, tinkering with motors, and running sound at church, always eager to share his expertise with others.
A talented individual, Carl was also a Water Scuba Safety Instructor for the American Red Cross, where he had the joy of teaching many how to scuba dive safely. In addition to his hands-on skills, he had a deep appreciation for classical music and shared his love of song by singing at church, enriching the lives of those who had the pleasure of hearing him.
Throughout his years, Carl's family often referred to him as the "walking encyclopedia," a testament to his vast knowledge, curiosity, and the love he shared with everyone around him.
In addition to his wife, Carl will be dearly missed by his children: Carl James, Jr. (Cathy) of Palmerton, Melody Blake of Bangor, ME, Terrance James (Kim) of Windsor, ME; grandchildren: Eric, Jaqueline, Matthew, Alexandria, Halle, Gabrielle, Kinsey and Kiley; great-grandchildren: Mona and Kash; sisters: Janet Stettler of Allentown and Caroline Haydt of Pennsylvania. Carl is predeceased by infant son Michael and grandson: Jessup Cadden-James.
A Memorial Service will be held at 11 AM on Saturday, May 24, 2025 at St. Paul's United Church of Christ - 787 Almond Rd, Walnutport, PA 18088.
