Carmella Evangelist Obituary

Carmella "Mel" Evangelist passed away on September 8, 2025 peacefully at home at the age of 94. Born to the late Carmen and Caroline (nee DeAngelis) Salamone, Carmella was the beloved wife of the late Victor Evangelist, JR.; loving mother to Donna Evangelist, Victor Evangelist, III (Marion), David Evangelist; cherished Grandmother (Nana) of Victor, IV (Alissa), David, Jr. (Jessica), Brandon (Angela), Kelli Abel (Charles), Jonathan (Ann); Great-Nana of Jacob, Austin, Trey, Sophia, Luca, Leo, Max, Asher; and dear sister of Joann Heck (the late Robert), and the late Jack (the late Peggy) Salamone. Carmella grew up in a large Italian household with her parents and siblings living among her 10 aunts and uncles, grandparents and "little nana" her beloved great-grandmom, in a house on Main Street big enough to accommodate all the love, chaos and joyfulness that this extended family provided. It was here that she learned to master the art of Italian cooking with recipes so amazing they continue to live on as her legacy through all of her grandchildren. Carmella loved to entertain her family and made legendary Christmas celebrations magical with food, music, decorations, and tireless baking! She was fun but also the embodiment of selflessness, receiving the most joy out of making others happy, in particular, her children, grandchildren and husband who she adored. She was strong, nurturing, devoted, comforting and quick-witted making us laugh and teaching us by her actions to be kind, generous, loving, forgiving and happy. Though our hearts are broken and all will miss her dearly the family finds comfort in knowing she is reunited with her beloved husband Victor Evangelist. Her spirit will live on in every holiday gathering and every act of kindness that is paid forward. Carmella touched many lives and accumulated many pet names. God bless Mella, Mom, Nana, Honey, Sis, Aunt Mel, Cam. Rest in Peace Nana! The best there ever was. Relatives and friends are invited to Carmella's Life Celebration on Friday, September 12, 2025 at the Boyd-Horrox-Givnish Life Celebration Home of East Norriton, 200 W. Germantown Pike from 9:30 to 10:50 AM, followed by her funeral service at 11 AM; entombment to follow at St. Patrick's Mausoleum.
